Why train @ DHMA? Let our students tell you!

I enjoyed your friendly demeanor, the connections of DHMA with other martial arts legends, and the spartan environment of a warehouse. -Eugene

I love everything about it! A fantastic Ajarn, friendly people that make you feel welcome and help you train and get better! I love it! (Now you couldn't get rid of me even if you wanted lol) -TikyEverything, Everybody. But most of all the gr8 Ajarn, who you can tell knows EVERYTHING about fighting/defending. -Aarik

Friendly and knowledgeable instructors, fun and challenging classes, great atmosphere, good people, and the fact that it is the only place on earth that can completely clear my mind! -Mishie

The academy is extremely knowledgable and very patient with new students. Guru and other instructors constantly watches your techniques and making sure you understand all the important details with it. -Albert

Words can't really explain why we all love training at DHMA. The list is very long but the biggest reason is Ajarn Dick and his wealth of knowledge. You just can't get this level of training anywhere else in NC. From each instructor to each student you entering a pleasant environment and leaving each day with something new to improve upon. DHMA allows you take yourself to whatever level you want to go to and some. I've played sports my entire life and never have I entered an environment without any egos. Not one person is trying to prove a point, everyone is there to learn, help and teach each other to become better students and properly represent the DHMA name. In a short time I've gone from a student at DHMA to a member of a new family. It took me one class to be convinced and I'm 100% sure it would be that way for anyone esle. -Wayne

So here's the thing about DHMA......you can dial up the level of intensity to be whatever you want it to be. You can train for cardio and conditioning - the best shape you will probably ever be in. You can learn practical life self defense lessons for confidence and make sure nobody will want to f... with you for sure. You can get belts and levels like other DOJOs all the way through Kru. If you want to train to compete Dick can get you a fight and put you on that track. Most of all it's hands on training from somebody who does all the work himself and won't pass you off to some 16 yr old "black belt" or run some franchise where you don't even know who runs the place. Dick is THE MAN and if you listen to him you will be too! -Dave G.

You provide a great atmosphere for learning & practicing. Always fun, friendly, and welcoming. That's important to a newcomer like me. Nobody ever makes it seem like "oh great, I have to work with the new guy."
I like the art. I like the way you teach it, and your passion for it. I'm sure you could have guys working for you while you sit back and run the business, but it seems like you thoroughly enjoy what you're doing. That's one of the things that drew me to your school. I want to learn from someone who loves and is passionate about what he is teaching. It makes all the difference in the world. -Dave
